Lee’Aujanique
12 years old
Lee’Aujanique is a ‘girly girl’ who loves all things pretty and frilly, especially pretty things in her hair. She likes to look nice and especially likes to wear decorative barrettes, ribbons, and pins in her hair.
Lee’Aujanique is responsive to adults who routinely use praise and other positive reinforcements. She does best and enjoys undivided attention from parents and teachers.
Lee’Aujanique loves giving big smiles to those around her. You should see how those smiles light up her eyes!
An adoptive family willing to help Lee’Aujanique maintain contact with her brother is desired. It is hoped that the family that adopts Lee’Aujanique and the family that adopts her brother will provide support to each other, such as respite so that the siblings can spend quality time together. Lee’Aujanique takes pride in her heritage and would like her adoptive family to help her feel connected to her African American roots.
Karvyier
15 years old
Karvyier, who likes to be called “Karvy,” is a boy who enjoys as well as excels with art and gardening. He says he likes to draw and garden because they help him relax and stay calm. He has recently become interested in coin collecting, and is proud of his growing collection of older coins. Karvy has also participated in playing soccer in the past as well.
Karvy has a twin brother who will be placed separately; however, it would greatly benefit him to maintain contact with his brother, since they are very bonded. Karvy has created a great relationship with his foster mom as well and would benefit from continued involvement with her.
Karvy is looking for a forever family who can provide him with the structure and encouragement he needs for him to be successful in growing and overcoming his past in a healthy manner.
Qavyier
15 years old
Qavyier who likes to go by “Qavy,” is a boy who loves sports, especially basketball and swimming. He sometimes can get overwhelmed by too much stimulation and too little structure, yet he is extremely bright and capable. School is a positive experience for him. Qavy loves learning about dinosaurs, playing electronic games and enjoys being outside. He doesn’t watch too much TV and likes to sit and talk or play card games.
He has made great gains in showing his truly sweet, empathetic, and compassionate sides. Qavy has great insight into the issues he has experienced in his past and how he can better cope with his feelings. He has also made great strides in making better transitions in his life.
Qavy has a twin brother who will be placed separately. But it would be great if Qavy could maintain some contact with his brother since they are very bonded. He will need to have parents that can provide him with consistency, clearly defined rules and expectations, and continue to help him progress in his journey to overcome his past trauma and grow in healthy ways. Qavy is ready for a forever family to offer him the love and support he needs.
Elana
16 years old
Elana is a beautiful 16 year old girl. She has a generally kind disposition but readily admits to being a “drama queen” at times. Elana likes music, fashion and social networking. She enjoys art and recently took a pottery class she thoroughly enjoyed. Elana is a “Belieber” aka Justin Bieber fan, and loves all things Bieber related from the color purple to his favorite foods and activities. Elana also enjoys reading especially books such as the Twilight Saga. While Elana can come off as self absorbed at times she can also show great sympathy and shines in doing so in a class at school where she's a mentor to students with physical disabilities.
Elana longs to be the center of attention and be doted upon by loving parents. She is good with pets and wants to be the only child or the youngest of older siblings. Elana is currently in a wonderful foster home that is teaching her what it means to live in a family. She has made great progress and is ready to find her forever family!
Charlie
13 years old
Charlie is a handsome boy whose good looks reflect his biracial heritage. He has dark curly hair and attractive dark brown eyes. Charlie has connections to some family members, who he would like to keep in touch with.
Charlie enjoys going on outings like out to eat and going to the movies. He also enjoys brushing and riding horses, which has helped to promote personal pride and self confidence in him as well as enables him to improve his listening skills and following directions.
Charlie is a student who has been identified with some delays but he continues to make progress in school both academically and socially.
It is wonderful that despite his many challenges, many of Charlie's previous caregivers have found so much to love and treasure about Charlie. It seems clear that in the right family with the right supports Charlie could truly blossom and realize his potential.
George
10 years old
Jacob, who likes to be called George, is a sweet 10 year old boy full of energy and curiosity. George enjoys being active, playing outdoors and sports. He is currently on a community football team and has played soccer. George likes video games, airplanes, Scooby Doo and dinosaurs. He is very bonded to his siblings who are in their adoptive placements in King County and is eagerly awaiting his forever family. George visits with his siblings once a month and would like to continue contact. Jacob and his sisters, Sheila and Helen, are the last of a sibling group of seven who are waiting for adoption. Although family recruitment for George is being done separately, he would be thrilled to be placed with Sheila and Helen. George is two years younger than Sheila and two years older than Helen. George and Helen have a special closeness and it was hard for both of them to be separated in foster care.
George and his siblings are all very proud of their Canadian First Nation heritage and want to continue to participate in Native ceremonies and practices and be connected to the local Native community, particularly the Coast Salish tribe. George especially appreciates it when others pray with him in traditional Native ways.
George is a very cute little boy with a warm sense of humor. Now in third grade, he has an academic IEP to help him with Reading and Math and other academic issues. George would benefit from a family who can provide support in his academic life.
Amy
16 years old
Amy enjoys horseback riding, swimming and going to the park. She also likes trips to the mall, movies and attending craft classes. Amy is in the 7th grade and does well academically. She enjoys helping other students when she finishes her work early.
An adoptive family for Amy could be a single mom or two parents that could provide the devotion and safety that she requires. Amy would thrive in a home with a small number of other children. Amy desperately wants to be adopted and be accepted into a family. Her adoptive family would need to be willing to maintain contact with Amy’s mother and brother.
Darien
13 years old
Darien is ready for his transition to a permanent family. He enjoys playing games with peers, going to the movies, shopping, and going out to dinner.
He is in the equine therapy which he participates in weekly. Darien is growing in his experience with the horses, and can now ride a horse led by a trained instructor. He also knows how to command the horse to turn, stop, walk, and go backwards.
Darien remains in contact with his brother, grandma, and aunt via phone, in-person visits, and Skype. Darien would benefit from a family with few or no children in order to assure a high level of nurturing and emotional support.
Joshua
13 years old
Joshua is a neat boy. Among his strengths are his charming personality, great sense of humor, and the capacity to be very compassionate. He is also very intelligent, and math and science are his favorite subjects. Joshua’s really into sports, especially soccer. He also enjoys playing interactive games with his foster family. Creating art and drawing are also fun for him.
Joshua has a younger brother Matthew (see WA871). While their social worker wants to hear from prospective adoptive families interested in adopting one or the other child, she is also very interested in hearing from experienced families interested in both boys who have time and patience for both boys. If separated, the boys will be counting on their respective adoptive families to help them maintain contact with each other.
Shauwen
17 years old
Exceptionally bright, Shauwen will amaze you with his vast knowledge of facts that he learned from books such as the Guinness Book of World Records or his favorite television stations. Just like other kids, he does enjoy reading, drawing, watching cartoons and playing video games! Watching Shauwen grow up into a capable, talented young man will be a joy his adoptive parents won’t want to miss. His vocabulary is beyond that of his age - he’s very gifted with language. This includes an interest in foreign languages. In the past, he has taught himself Japanese and Spanish because other cultures fascinate him, so he’s quite an adventurous young man! In the future, Shauwen says he would like to serve his country by joining the military and going to college.
Shauwen is excited at the idea of engaging in activities with other children. Over the summer, Shauwen went to a camp for five nights / six days and said that he liked it so much he wished it would not have ended. His two favorite activities were swimming and kayaking. If you have animals in your home, Shauwen would also love to play with them, especially if they’re cats!
Taking Shauwen into your home will be a pleasure, as he can show his wit and affection to adoptive parents, making them both proud and amazed at having such a precocious son! Academically, Shauwen is doing excellent! Since both of Shauwen’s siblings live outside Washington, he would like adoptive parents who will support written and telephonic contact with his brother and sister. He’s so deserving of a happy, enriched life, and adoptive parents who are willing to give that to him are encouraged to take this young man in!
